Celebrating decades of experience and craftsmanship

Since 1974 Rivermeade has built a highly skilled team designing and making signs for design companies as well as directly for clients. From screen printing to gold leaf, decades of experience and craftsmanship go into each job, rarely outsourced.

The cornerstone of the new brand is the heritage mark, which acts as a ‘stamp of quality’. The typography was stripped back to its roots using a 200-year-old sans serif, itself influenced by architectural lettering and sign painting of the time.

The Kingfisher

The original ‘kingfisher’ motif prominent, in the old brand, was redrawn. The birds heritage was linked to the founding of the business and important to retain. Although not often seen hovering, it seemed the most distinguishable pose. It is used sparingly on key items.

Colour within the new visual identity comes from the materiality of the work going through the factory. Where colour is needed the distinct colours of the Kingfisher are introduced as accents.

A picture paints a thousand words

As part of the brand refresh we commissioned filmmakers and photographers Stephenson / Bishop to spend a couple of days in Rivermeade’s Acton factory.

They shadowed members of the team as they worked, capturing every stage of the design and manufacturing process. The result is an extensive media library of team portraits, detail and product shots, the factory at work and a documentary celebrating the people behind the craft and skill of their work.

A portfolio of excellence…

Rivermeade is known as one of the leading sign manufacturers in the UK. We thought that it was fitting that they had a portfolio that celebrated the projects that they have been a part of.

… and a website to match

With the usual platforms we built and delivered a new website to showcase all of the new content. As part of that process was a rigour around the navigation and presentation of their work. What sets them apart is their attention to detail, skill and craftsmanship. We wanted to celebrate this and showcase the handmade in England.
